What we offer:

Support for patients and their loved ones

Cancer never affects just one person. That is why Jelas Place is here for you and the people closest to you, whenever you urgently need a break from life with illness:

  • If you are the patient, you can contact us informally, with no paperwork at all.

  • If you are a relative or close friend, you can also contact us on someone else's behalf. You are always welcome to get in touch. We guide you through everything and plan your break at your own pace.

Step by step:

How it works in detail

  1. You get in touch with us

Via WhatsApp, email or our 3-step short form – simply choose whatever feels easiest for you right now. You don't need to write a long letter or have any documents ready. A simple “I'd like to find out more” is all you need to say.

  2. We get back to you personally

Within 5 working days, someone from our team will call you or send you a message. We only ask a few short questions, to gently understand what you and your loved ones need right now.

  3. We talk things through together

We talk through calmly whether and how Jelas Place can help. We also clarify the few documents we may need later (such as confirmation of the diagnosis from a doctor and a short assessment of your financial situation). We do all of this entirely at your pace.

  4. We plan your break

Together we choose a suitable, peaceful place to stay and sort out all the details. You and your family choose the place and dates that suit you best.

  5. Then it’s time for your break

Jelas Place covers the full cost of the stay. We take care of everything you need for a few worry-free days. And afterwards, if you like, you can tell us about your time – freely and with no obligation.

Request a break

Fully transparent:

The criteria for a break

We want to keep bureaucracy to an absolute minimum. But as a non-profit foundation, we are responsible for making sure that donations reach exactly where they are needed most. That is why there are two simple requirements for your break:

  • Medical proof: a medical report, or a short, informal note from your practice confirming the cancer diagnosis.

  • The financial situation: Jelas Place is here for families who, under the strain of illness, simply lack the means for a short holiday. An honest assessment of your situation is completely enough to begin with.

We are very aware that it takes courage to talk about your own financial situation. We ask only so that we can treat every family fairly — never to judge you. Everything you share with us stays absolutely confidential.

Request a break

Quick answers:

Your questions,
short answers

Can I bring my children or my partner?

Yes, absolutely. Cancer never affects just one person – it affects everyone around them. The break is there for you and your family, or for the people closest to you in this phase who give you strength right now.

Do I have to be 100% fit to travel?

No. We plan the break to match your current state of health – at your pace and with as much rest as you need.

How long can a break be?

That depends on the particular accommodation and your situation. We agree on a period together that works for you.

What if I am currently in active treatment?

You are in the right place then, too. We coordinate the timing and location of the break closely with your treatment appointments.

How is my personal data protected?

Everything you share with us stays strictly confidential. We process your data solely to plan your break – in line with the applicable data protection rules.
